Endodontics is the area of dentistry that deals with root canal therapy, i.e. with the treatment that a tooth needs when the nerve of the tooth has already been suffering by inflammation.

In some cases, because of advanced caries, the nerve has been infected, the pulp of the tooth becomes inflamed and usually this state is accompanied with unbearable pain.

  In some cases, usually after years of inflammation, the nerve is killed and abscess or fistula is created, which may be asymptomatic for a while, but when the situation worsens, severe symptoms of edema (swelling) and pain are apparent.

Both cases are dealt with endodontic treatment in which the roots of the tooth are internally cleaned, disinfected and finally sealed with special materials.

This entire process that once took weeks or even months has now become simple and quick with the aid of modern means. It is completed over one or two appointments and is totally painless.
